I love how personal perfumes are. How everyone has their own favorites, and how the same scent can feel totally different depending on your skin, the weather, or even your mood. That’s what pulled me in.
It was about one or two years ago when I slowly felt deeper into the world of fragrances and decided to study about them. It started as a curiosity and quietly became a hobby. I enjoy reading about, testing new scents, figuring out what works for me, and noticing how fragrances shift with the seasons.
So now that summer is in full swing (and I’ve decided to get back into content creation!), I wanted to share three perfumes I’ve been reaching for a lot lately. They are all from Jo Loves, and strike that sweet spot between fresh and interesting. I feel they are perfect for Seoul’s hot and humid summer!
Also: Please wear whatever you love, whenever you want. But if you’re looking for scents that feel especially nice in the heat, these three are worth checking out.
Best Summer Perfumes from Jo Loves (my favorites)
Mango Thai Lime: A Tropical Refresh
Is Mango Thai Lime a good summer scent?
Yes. It’s juicy, light, and instantly refreshing.
This one has been living in my bag lately. I got the small size on purpose, just to have it with me throughout the day. I reapply it often, and I don’t mind, because it’s honestly one of my favorites.
The scent opens with ripe mango and a zingy twist of lime. It is fruity, but not in an overly sweet way. There’s also a gentle herbal edge from mint and thyme that makes it feel cooler and more balanced.
What I love most is how it makes me feel. It instantly brings back memories of my hometown in Brazil. Not in a direct mango-equals-Brazil way, but more like the mood: warm, familiar, a little nostalgic. It even smells kind of edible, like tropical food I’d crave in the summer.
There’s black pepper and vetiver in the base, but they stay soft. On my skin, the mango and lime remain the stars, with just enough spice to keep things interesting. Like a brief escape from the city.
Longevity: Short. Very short to be honest. But I don’t mind. The scent makes me happy every time I reapply it.

Jo by Jo Loves: Clean Citrus with a Spicy Twist
Looking for a citrus perfume that feels a bit more dressed-up?
Well, you should try Jo by Jo Loves.
Let’s just say this summer scent starts fresh and crisp. Think of grapefruit and lime. Fresh and fruity. But it doesn’t stop there. Soon comes a clean sharpness from spearmint and a light peppery note that makes it more interesting than an average citrus. I still get that cooling, summer brightness, but it’s layered with a bit of surprise.
As it settles, it gets softer and cleaner. I get vetiver and cedarwood in the dry down, which gives it a more polished, skin-like feel. It’s still very wearable in the heat, but leaving a little more put-together than something like Mango Thai Lime.
This is the one I’d wear when I want to feel fresh, but also a little focused. On a summer workday, maybe, or meeting a friend in a caffeshop.
Longevity: Better than Mango Thai Lime. Still not all-day, but noticeable as the hours pass. I get a few hours of clean brightness, then a soft woody skin scent.

Green Orange & Coriander: Zesty and Herbaceous
What’s a fresh, green citrus perfume that works for summer, but that isn’t too sweet?
Well, I’d recommend Green Orange & Coriander. Hands down. It’s crisp, aromatic, and clean.
This one surprised me in the best way. Again, Mango Thai Lime is fruity and soft, and Jo By Jo Loves is fresh citrus with a modern bite. Green Orange & Coriander, on the other hand, is the greenest and most aromatic of the three. In a REALLY good way.
It opens with this burst of bitter orange: super crisp, almost like peeling a just-ripe orange in the middle of a garden. Then the coriander kicks in, adding this herbal twist that makes the scent feel cooler and cleaner, rather than sweet or juicy.
There’s also a woody base that gives it structure, but nothing too heavy. Not on my skin at least. The overall effect is sharp and fresh, but with a bit of bite that makes it smell creative but serious, if you know what I mean. It feels like something you’d wear on a hot and dry day, to make you feel clean and grounded. It gives you sort of a presence.
It doesn’t lean sweet, and it’s not exactly warm. It remains clean, green, and a little spicy. To me, it’s also probably the most elegant.
Longevity: Better than Mango Thai Lime and Jo by Jo Love. It holds up decently for a fresh scent, especially as the woody base settles in.
Does Jo Loves Perfume Last Long?
It depends! I’ve noticed that some Jo Loves scents (like No. 42 The Flower Shop or Pink Vetiver) stick around longer. Again, on my skin at least. But in general, I’d say most of them have moderate to short longevity on my skin.
If staying power is important to you, I’d recommend testing first or going for the smaller bottles so you can reapply throughout the day. That’s what I do, and it works.
Jo Malone vs Jo Loves: What’s the Difference?
Q: Is Jo Malone the same as Jo Loves?
Not quite, but they’re connected.
Jo Malone is the founder of both brands. She launched Jo Malone London in 1994 and made it known for elegant, layered fragrances. After leaving the company, she started a new chapter with Jo Loves in 2011.
The two brands share a similar minimal style, but I find Jo Loves to be a bit more playful and experimental, which I personally enjoy.
